Specialist interest in Ageing and Neurodivergence

I am very interested in the experience of individuals who receive a diagnosis of autism

or ADHD later in life, or who suspect they may be neurodivergent, following younger

family members receiving a diagnosis, which opened up opportunities for learning,

reflections and conversations about how you experience the world in similar ways.

I am keen to create a supportive, neuro-affirming environment for neurodivergent individuals, either with a formal diagnosis or those curious about their neurotype.

It is important to note that I cannot offer assessment for Autism or ADHD or provide a diagnosis or medication.

If we work together, our sessions can be a space to think about your individual preferences in relation to your sensory experiences, communication and social relationships. We can explore your strengths, personal challenges and coping strategies. We can think together about what your special interests are and how you can explore and use them to self soothe and recharge.

We may, if helpful, think about how your neurodivergence, or potentially, the lack of support, awareness and understanding around your neurodivergence you may have received, has impacted upon you across your life, potentially resulting in trauma, low self-esteem or anxiety and look at introducing strategies to combat any shame or distress you carry around these experiences.

In our sessions, we can also think about what accommodations you may require and develop advocacy skills to ensure you feel able to ask for these accommodations to be in place to improve your quality of life and help you to reduce the impact of burnout and live authentically.
